Case 163: Claudication and Foot Pain Following Cholesterol Emboli Cured
![]() |
This 68 year old lady suffered a shower of cholesterol emboli to her right foot during a coronary angioplasty procedure on January 9th, 1991. Left with a half block claudication and a painful foot, she was referred to a vascular surgeon who provided her with pain medications. As she had an ankle/arm blood pressure index of 0.85, he felt she had no need for vascular reconstruction. Due to unremitting pain and claudication, he referred her for boot therapy on April 23rd, 1991. |

She was treated with Mini-Boot and did well. Her claudication disappeared. Her foot pain disappeared. Normal skin color was restored. |
Comments: Another patient who would have been spared pain and suffering had she been referred for therapy three months earlier.
